How songs can help kids learn?


Certain action rhymes like the ‘Incy Wincy Spider’  or ‘Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall’ might seem just something for fun to us but these along with various songs for kids can actually help in developing communication skills and enhancing the language skills of children of a particular age group.
These songs and rhymes have repetitions that make the children learn and the actions and the movements help in the development of the coordination skills. There are also many rhymes that help the children with counting, alphabets and various other things. Counting and basic mathematics concepts can be introduced through songs and rhymes. Even weather conditions like rain and snow can also be taught through certain poems and rhymes.

Each nursery rhyme and songs for kids have a particular theme and a unique rhythm that is easier for a child to remember and memorize. It is said that the brain a human develops the maximum between the ages of 5-9 and hence, rhymes and songs are the best ways of making a child learn and remember things that he or she needs to.

Nursery songs and rhymes are colorful and captivating. Mostly all pre-schools songs and nursery poems have some kind of stories in them that attract children. They also are colorful and captivate the imagination of children and encourage them to dream. They imagine a world that is not there in reality but this helps them in expanding their imagination. They imagine about an egg shaped man who sits and falls from the wall (Humpty Dumpty) or about twinkling stars. This is the best way of introducing literature in their world.

Nursery songs and rhymes have words that are easy to remember and a rhythm that is catchy and loved by children. This helps in development of the vocabulary of the kids as well.
